IBioIC has welcomed CelluComp Co-Founder and Head of Technology, Dr Eric Whale, as the new chair of IBioIC’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).  

Dr Whale, who is a chartered scientist and a member of the Royal Chemistry Society, brings over 25 years of R&D experience to the Board, ranging from his Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Polymer Science and his role at the Centre for Biomimetics, before joining DERA as a Senior Scientist and currently as co-founder of Scottish-based company CelluComp.  He will join a panel of industrial and academic experts who provide technical leadership and guidance on scientific and technological aspects of the IBioIC project and skills programmes.

Speaking on his appointment to chair, Dr Whale said: “I am proud to have been appointed as the new chair of the IBioIC Scientific Advisory Board. The SAB plays a critical role in shaping the technical leadership of industrial biotechnology. I am keen to make sure the industrial biotechnology community is properly recognised in the scientific community and beyond.”

Eric’s experience and enthusiasm make him the right person to lead the technical efforts of industrial biotechnology community, whether this is in the post COVID-19 world or in the sustainability policy landscape.”
