In April this year, the Centre for Engineering Education & Development (CeeD) was appointed by Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise to deliver the Advancing Manufacturing Cluster Builder (AMCB). The purpose of the AMCB is to provide support and help in attracting and signposting SMEs to the AMCF (Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund)  projects, as well as supporting Scottish SMEs to find appropriate help, support and potential partnerships with other key national initiatives such as NMIS, IBioIC and key economic development agencies.

The overall aim of the AMCF is for projects to have a significant impact on advancing the manufacturing capabilities of SMEs within Scotland which lead to long-term transformational change. Up to £8.9 million of grant funding has already been awarded to SME businesses.

The Centre will be running a programme of dedicated events and workshops over the next three years, building and strengthening relationships with regional manufacturing organisations across Scotland.

CeeD Managing Director, Joe Pacitti added: “We are delighted to become a member of IBioIC and look forward to working closely together on a range of exciting initiatives”.

CeeD, Centre for Engineering Education and Development, is an ever-growing community of businesses and academics which come together to share talents and expertise in the pursuit of operational excellence.  They pool their collective experience, resources, knowledge and expertise to solve specific operational challenges, helping each other to improve business efficiency and effectiveness – ultimately impacting the bottom line.

Through collaborative efforts the Centre addresses key business challenges including property, planned maintenance and lean manufacturing techniques, energy, waste, training, marketing, health and safety, product and people development. ‘Whatever the business problems our members face, we aim to help solve these together.’
