New team members join IBioIC

Over the last couple of months, we have been delighted to welcome two new members of staff to the team.

Liz Fletcher joins us as our new Business Engagement and Operations Director from the University of Edinburgh, where she managed the engineered biology research centres.

In her new role, Liz will manage the day-to-day operational aspects of IBioIC, will help shape the Centre’s strategy and deliver its key aims of building new opportunities and accelerating commercialisation.

Alex McIntyre joined IBioIC in February 2021 as a Downstream Processing Scientist. He is responsible for aiding the delivery of industry-led downstream processing projects while also supporting technical training courses, health & safety activities and supervision of junior scientists.

Alex is a former IBioIC MSc student who might be familiar to readers who attended our 2020 conference as he was awarded the prize for achieving the highest grade in his year.

Alexander is looking to apply his knowledge of biotechnology, focusing primarily on small to pilot scale operations. Alexander will develop robust, efficient, scalable strategies for improving downstream process performance in collaboration with fellow scientists and clients.
