Political Meetings at Westminster and Holyrood

IBioIC met with the newly appointed Shadow Minister for Trade, Investment and Innovation, Michelle Ballantyne MSP to introduce the new member of the Conservative Shadow Cabinet to the work of IBioIC and the world of industrial biotechnology, of which there was positive twitter engagement following the meeting. Mrs Ballantyne has since left the Scottish Conservatives, and IBioIC will look to engage with the new Shadow Innovation Minister. IBioIC also met with former Scottish Labour Leader Johan Lamont MSP to discuss the many innovation activities taking place in Glasgow.

IBioIC met with Daniel Zeichner MP, the Shadow Minister in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the Labour Party’s Shadow Cabinet at Westminster. Mr Zeichner is the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Life Sciences, and was interested to hear about the work of industrial biotech in the COVID-19 response, as well as the contribution biotech can make to the climate change agenda.
