Spring Newsletter
Welcome to IBioIC’s first digital newsletter.
COVID-19 has delivered unprecedented uncertainty and the highest risk to health and the economy since the World Wars. Within this environment, IBioIC strives to continue our activities where possible. To this end, we have split our focus into support of Scotland’s COVID-19 response and continued member engagement either through emergency financial support mechanisms or continued innovation funding. There is still a need to continue with a sense of community and IBioIC will provide the support network in addition to a strong cross-Innovation Centre resource for Scotland.
Webinars have now become the new normal, in place of business events during lockdown. IBioIC is no exception, and please do have a look at our upcoming programme of webinars on our website.
IBioIC is also continuing to drive our skills activities, finding MSc students research projects for the summer, given the industrial placements secured will no longer be feasible. We await the green light to restart activity in our Scale-up Centres, but in line with guidance they currently remain closed. Our team will continue to keep all involved with projects updated.
We continue to engage with Scottish and UK Governments and funding bodies briefed through various channels. If you would like us to raise any concerns or barriers you are facing, please do share with us.
Like many organisations, IBioIC has worked as part of the COVID-19 response and will continue to do so whilst needed. However, in the long-term, we continue to play a role in achieving the ambition of net-zero carbon emissions by 2045. Innovation is the key to unlocking truly sustainable growth.
I hope you and your families continue to be safe and well.
Best wishes
Mark Bustard, CEO, IBioIC
